You know rescue dogs love
you more..
K9 Rescue Remedy Support Group is a very different dog club with a very special
membership and a unique ethos. The vision of the founder members was to create a club that enhances
the relationship between the rescue dog and their owner by:
- Helping
owners of rescues to understand their dogs behaviour;
- Providing the opportunity for both dogs
and owners to reach their full potential by providing a variety of learning experiences;
- Providing
mentoring and mutual support for owners - face to face, through telephone mentoring and the K9RRSG Facebook account;
- Assisting owners to understand the basics of working with dogs;
- Promoting responsible
dog ownership;
- Promoting dogs in the wider community;
- Preparing
dogs and owners for participation in the Kennel Club Good Citizens Scheme.
During autumn,
winter and spring school term times, training for the Good Citizens Scheme takes place on Sunday mornings at Sedlescombe Village
Hall, Sedlescombe near Battle. In addition, on Thursday evenings at Bexhill Sea Scout Headquarters, Buckhurst Road,
Bexhill-on-Sea we provide induction sessions, one to one help and doggy dancing.
We close formal training during
the summer (mid July to the beginning of September), but we get together on Tuesday evenings for fun agility and at the weekends,
when we are not attending community fetes, shows or fun activities, we often get together for a walk in the woods or on the
beach. Mentoring continues throughout the year.
The special ethos that we enjoy is achieved
by acceptance by ALL members of our 'No bitching policy'
(essentially an agreement not to criticize other members or their dogs, but to be
supportive - or to say nothing). The policy has been and will continue to be,
rigorously enforced by the club committee.
